Glimmers

Glimmer: The opposite of a Trigger. A small moment that sparks awe, joy or peace. Glimmers remind us that even in our toughest times, there is beauty to be found. They surround us no matter what life is throwing at us, but they really only exist if you notice them.
I’ve been absolutely wrecked with pain and misery this week, but it wasn’t all bad. It never is. I always do my best to focus on the good “little” moments throughout every day, and to be acutely present in that moment and genuinely, truly thankful for that glimmer of joy, that bit of beauty in an otherwise wretched day. It’s not always easy, sometimes I’m just grateful for my breath and nothing else, but I think it’s an imperative way to live. Hovering over the good stuff, hanging on for as long as you can and cherishing the positivity really makes the awful, torturous times somewhat more bearable.
Getting outside on my bad days is extremely tough, but if I can, I do; even if for only 5 minutes or so. Spending focused time with my family isn’t easy when I can’t hardly function, so I relish any opportunity I get to go on adventures with them and do new things together. My pets (and grandpup) bring me so much joy and I never want to take them for granted. I also happen to have tons of pictures of my grandson, and every time I get a new one I consider it to be the best part of my whole day. Glimmers exist all around me, everywhere I go, and noticing them has reminded me that, though I live life with a lot of challenges, it’s still a pretty darn good life.
Remember, Glimmers only exist when you start looking for them…so I suggest y’all better get to lookin’! Happy hunting 💜
