Christmas Presence

Are you a confident or nervous gift giver? I’m definitely a “nervous” one. Because of my Personal Dependency Disorder, and past narcissistic abuse, I have a REALLY hard time making decisions on my own, ESPECIALLY if I have to decide something for someone else. I start to ponder/stress over what I’m gonna get everyone for Christmas in August & September. I take great care in giving thoughtful, useful, sentimental gifts that are specifically chosen for each individual. I suppose it might be a Love Language of mine; giving gifts. It’s so important to me that my family knows that I know them well. Truly, the most fun I have at Christmas is watching everyone open their gifts. I usually like to have one handmade gift for each person, but this year (without being specific) I had to outsource my project. I just love any opportunity to show my family some love, even if it’s material items. My OCD also makes this whole Santa gig tough because of how I have to give, how many I have for each person, and certain categories that I traditionally stick to, but I’m handling that pretty well so far this year. Do you give gifts because you HAVE to or because you WANT to? I just love the holiday season. No, not because of the tangible gifts, but because the spirit of giving surrounds us, and gives us a chance to find thoughtful ways of showing our love for others. I will forever question myself 1,000 times before making the purchase, and another 1,000 times after, and I’ll be triggered and challenged by my mental health, but I will always love when my loved ones faces light up upon opening a gift I’ve given them. 🎄🎁
