The forging flames of change
are here.
Landscapes altered,
foundations turned to dust,
bridges to nowhere burned along the way.
A mighty force,
guilty of utter destruction.
Constructing new paths,
making way for rebirth.
Giving space for new growth,
it burns onward.
But I,
I do not fear.
I can withstand the scorching heat of the ravenous blue flames.
For I have called them to me.
I am captivated by the dancing fire.
I watch as ancient pain morphs into
tendrils of white smoke,
like whispers,
vanishing.
Now, only nothing.
Free.
I see the old me disappear into the sky.
Dust,
evaporating.
I could just leave.
Retreat.
Fly away.
Stray from the flint sparking in my heart,
keep every story in my catalogued history,
But I stay.
I watch the Lies burn.
I watch the flames engulf my past, and
turn my pain to crumbling coal.
Sifting through the ashes,
it seems,
I’ve found my soul.
