I see you, mama.
I know about the tear stained pillowcase; the nagging fear you can’t manage all you face.
I know you’re scared you’ll just crash and burn,
Yet every day I see you fight.
Time and again, I see you rise to the occasion;
All while kicking ass, taking names, an’ humming the tune of “Frozen.”
Girl, I am in awe of you.
You are magnificence wrapped in warmth and grace.
You are
Endless love.
No conditions.
Eeternal beauty.
A Goddess.
The essence of maternal Magic.
I see you, mama.
I feel your pain;
your tears are not shed alone.
We are connected by the Divine.
Our sorrows and woes intwine.
Mama, all your selflessness and sacrifice are not in vain.
It just takes time for seasons to change.
You are
Forgiveness and freedom.
A safe space filled with weirdness, happy thoughts, and ice cream on winter days.
You are their sun,
their “Goodnight Moon.”
Their cleansing rain.
It’s because of you
those precious flowers grow.
It’s your love from which they bloom.
You are nectar to their soul.
Essential.
You are God’s most glorious creator, ageless.
A timeless creature.
Hell bent on survival.
And though life will forever ebb and flow,
trust;
All those tiny seeds you sow, well, they’re turning out to be something quite remarkable.
Mama, ya done good.
I’m mighty proud of you.
For even when there are no more tantrum tears to wipe from rosy cheeks,
no more kissing boo knees,
When conversations turn from careers to babies,
Because of you,
they’ll always know,
unequivocally so,
that their mama loves them through ‘n through,
from the depth of her soul to the tip of their toes.
They’ll know they’re strong,
like their mother;
beautiful
and brave,
And they have no doubt,
That no matter the challenge,
You’ll face it together.
